Roy H. Vessells Jr. departed this life on June 29, 2024.
He was born on January 28, 1945 to Roy H. Vessells, Sr. and Lou Ethel Vessells.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his best friend and brother, Warner "Pete" Vessells.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Vessells, his children: Matthew (Nicole), Marlene (Darryl), Marc, Jannie (Sherry) and Janet (Marcus); grandchildren: Isiah, Brandi, Sydni, Raven, and Monee’, Ahman and Jahleel. Roy also leaves to cherish his memories, Arnita Bryant and her family, his sister, Theresa Beale (David), a devoted niece, Crystal Vessells and her mother, Blanche Vessells and nieces: Charleata Neal (Randy) and Latonia Stanley (Drew).
Roy was a proud, retired United States Air Force Veteran.
He loved to fish and bowl with his sons and thought there was no other football team than the Washington Redskins. Marc says, "that's because he didn't know any better".
The viewing will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 1 -2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2548 Hustle Rd., Hustle, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Rev. K. Lionel Richards, Pastor. Rev. Darryl Austin, Eulogist. The interment will be on Tuesday, July 16 in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk.
