Rev. Dr. Reuben Spencer Carter, 83, of Manquin, departed this life on June 22 at his residence. He was the pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church, King William for 41 years.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his loving family: his wife, Viola, his “wind beneath his wings” of nearly 62 years, a son, Jason Roderick Carter Sr. (Bhavya), a daughter, Tamara Raquel Carter-Nemish (Mark), two grandsons: Jason Roderick Carter Jr. (Abigail) and Kendall Donovan Nemish; one granddaughter, Kailani Raquel Nemish, a sister, Pearline Carter, a niece (that was like a sister) Shirley Stokes, two brothers-in-law: Earl Yates and Cornell Yates; four sisters-in-law: Thelma Carter, Lessie Taylor, Joyce Jones and Maxine Dugger and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The viewing will be held on Thursday, June 30 from 6-8 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, King William. A funeral service will be at on Friday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at Acquinton Elementary School, King William. The interment will be in the Gethsemane Baptist Church cemetery.
