Minnie Sutton Roane

Minnie Sutton Roane, 75, of King William departed this life on February 17, 2019.  She was born to the late Nancy and Edward Sutton in King and Queen County, Virginia.  Preceding her in death was her son Arthur Dillard Roane, Jr. and siblings: James Thomas Sutton, Nancy Lee Wormley, Edward Junius Sutton, and Alice Rebecca Williams.

Minnie was educated in the King and Queen Public School system.  She graduated from Apex Beauty School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband of 58 years, Arthur Dillard Roane; three daughters: COl (Ret.) Cheryl Renea Roane Lewis of Copperas Cove, TX, Terri Diane Roane of North Chesterfield, VA and Anita Rochelle Roane of Richmond, VA; two sisters: Frances Hill and Mary Green and six grandchildren that she adored: Kandace-Ma’at Booker, Courtney Lewis, Taylor Roane, Asha’ Booker, Cierra Lewis, and Quinton Lewis, Jr.

In her early years, Minnie was a teacher’s assistant in Philadelphia and later became  a beautician owning  her own business, Minnie’s Beauty Salon. She not only took pride in her beauty salon business, she had a passion for what she did and made lifelong friends during the time she had her salon.

The viewing will be held on Friday, February 22 from 12-3 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock and will continue from 6-8 p.m. at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 23 at 1 p.m. at First Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Newtown. Rev. Drucilla Tate, Pastor.
