Melvin Theodore Jeter, Jr.

Melvin Theodore Jeter, Jr., 79, of Tappahannock departed this life on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Carrington Place Nursing Home in Tappahannock.

Melvin, affectionately known as "Junior" is survived by his three children: a daughter: Brenda Jeter-Byrd (David) of Champlain, two sons: Melvin "Button" Jeter, III (Bernita) of Fredericksburg and Travis Woodson, Sr. (Sheena) of New Canton; five grandchildren: Nakiyah Jeter (whom he adored) of Champlain, InDya & TrayLyn Logan, RayVyn & Travis Woodson, Jr. all of New Canton; one great-grandson: KaiCen Logan of New Canton; two sisters: Loretta Gae Jeter of Washington, DC and Edna Elliot (James) and one brother, James Jeter (Drucilla) of Tappahannock, Virginia.  He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026 at 2pm in the chapel of Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock, VA.
