Martha Edmonia Moore was born at midnight on September 15, 1930 to the last Charlie and Elizabeth Holmes of Essex County, VA. She grew up on their farm with her sister and 4 brothers. Martha departed this life at the age of 91 at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock, TX on April 2, 2022.
Martha attended John Moncure High School in Essex County VA. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Beulah Baptist Church in Tappahannock, VA. Martha and her husband, Alfred, traveled from TX to VA every year to attend Beulah's Homecoming.
Martha married Alfred Warren Moore in 1950. The couple had 6 children. Martha was preceded in death by; her husband, Alfred Warren Moore, 3 sons; Julius Warren Moore, Prince Alfred Moore, Nathan Wayne Moore and daughter; Linda Lue Moore-Robinson.
Martha traveled the world with her husband as an Army wife for many years. She retired from AAFES in Killeen TX after 25 years of employment. After retirement, Martha worked along with her husband until his death in 2007.
She is survived by her daughters: Martha Paris (Jerry) of Georgetown, TX and Diana Moore of Killeen, TX; granddaughters: Shirrena Perkins (David) of Riverside, CA, Natasha Kyles of Riverside CA and Nicole Moore of Hampton VA; 6 great-children, a sister-in-law, Bernice Flower of Washington DC and a host of nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held on April 15 from 3 pm to 5 pm here at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock. The graveside funeral service will be held on April 16 at 12 noon at Beulah Baptist Church in Tappahannock.
