Alverta Carey Wake

Alverta Carey Wake, 71, of Urbanna departed this life on June 28, in a Washington, DC hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Herman Wake, Jr., two daughters: Tryphena Gray of White Plains, MD and Anna Lisa Wake of Newport News and four sons: Xavier Carey of Richmond, Jimmy Wake of Maryland, Herman Wake III of Newport News and Jason Wake of Saluda.

The viewings will be held on Friday, July 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, 1404 Tappahannock Blvd., Tappahannock and from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10 at Calvary Baptist Church, 397 General Puller Hwy, Saluda, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. The interment will be at Grafton Baptist Church, 425 Grafton Church Rd., Hartfield.
