Melvin Roland Byrd, Jr., 84, of Tappahannock departed this life on January 7 in a Mechanicsville hospital.

He is survived by three daughters: Joanne Brimmer, Flornette Washington and Jacklyn Byrd and two sons: Bobby Byrd and Melvin Byrd III all of Tappahannock.

The viewing will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 3-7 p.m. at Washington Funeral Home, 1404 Tappahannock Blvd., Tappahannock. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 12 at 2:30 p.m. at New Liberty Baptist Church, 33030 Sparta Rd., Milford. Rev. Dr. Willie T. Carter, Pastor. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
