Melvin Edward Byrd

Rev. Melvin Edward Byrd, 74, of Walkerton departed this life on Wednesday, January 23 in a Ashland nursing home.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Greene Byrd of Walkerton, two sons: Steven E. Byrd of Norfolk and Jeffrey A. Byrd (Leonisha) of Richmond; a step-son, Elgie Taylor of Walkerton, one granddaughter, Alonnie Byrd of Norfolk, three brothers: Douglas Byrd of Maryland, William Byrd (Cora) of Fairfax and Larry Byrd (Betty) of Richmond.

The viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 29 from 1-3 p.m. here at Washington Funeral Home, Tappahannock and will continue from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Hustle. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30 at the church. The interment will be in the church cemetery.
